AUTOMATIC HYDROLOGICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM

The Automatic Hydrological Information System (S.A.I.H.) started its development in 1983 as one of the SPANISH NATIONAL DAM SAFETY PROGRAM main activities. Organized as a real time hydrologic and hydraulic data transmission system, its initial aim was achieve the reduction of flood´s catastrophic efects.

It´s introduction extends to all Spanish river basins. The firm SYNCONSULT S.L. has intervened in the introduction of this system in the Hydrographic Confederation of the Júcar, Segura, Sur, Ebro y Pirineo Oriental.

The operation of dams and reservoirs using S.A.I.H., both in normal situations as well as during floods, provides real time data that permits to get global answer to so The Automatic Hydrological Information System (S.A.I.H.) uses computerised procedures to capture, transmit, process and present information on the hydrologic and hydraulic condition of river basins.

In addition to the immediate application as a support tool for decision-making in the hydraulic management of the basin, the S.A.I.H can be expected to have many other applications:

- Storage of continuous, reliable hydrological data.

- Automatic generation of statistics and reports.

- More in-depth knowledge of the propagation of flood waves.

- More in-depth knowledge of the space-time structure of rainfall.

- Introduction of new technologies.
